Types of Meetings:

The Lord’s Supper:

If you visit us on a Sunday morning, you will observe Christians in assembly fellowship gathered around a small table furnished with a loaf of bread and a cup of wine. This is done to obey the request of our Lord Jesus Christ when He said; “This do in remembrance of me.” Toward the end of the meeting, the bread is passed from believer to believer and each one takes a small portion as a remembrance of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which was given for us on the cross of Calvary. The cup of wine will then be passed in like manner; thus we remember the precious blood of Christ poured out at the cross for our sins. The apostle Paul could write in 1 Corinthians 11:25-26,“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till He come.”

As a visitor, not knowing the order and perhaps not known to any believers, you will be directed to a seat at the back to observe the carrying out of this most solemn remembrance. (read 1 Corinthians 14:16) No discourtesy is intended and all are welcome to “come and see.” This is a primary scriptural function of a New Testament church of God.

It is our hope and prayer that all true believers will have the God-given desire to take their place in the fellowship of a scripturally gathered New Testament assembly. You may also observe the scriptural practice (Romans 16;1; 2 Corinthians. 3:1) of the reading of a letter of commendation concerning a visiting believer desiring to take part of the Lord’s supper. These letters are intended to commend a fellow believer from a distant assembly, or someone who has moved into the area and is unknown to the believers here, thus preserving the character and holiness of the assembly as well as the testimony to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are NEVER any public collections taken. Only those in the fellowship of the assembly bring an offering on Lord’s Day morning, which is taken at the end of the meeting by the passing of a collection box.

Sunday School:

We would be happy to see your children and yourself at our Sunday school where the plain teachings of the Bible is taught. The teachers take an individual interest in each child and seek to instruct them in the way of salvation while early in life. The word of God is able is to preserve them in a world of violence and immorality so that their lives might be for the glory of God. The Apostle Paul in speaking to his son in the faith, Timothy, was able to say, “…that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation;” 2 Timothy 3:15. The Lord Jesus Himself said, “;Suffer the little children to come unto me;” Luke 18:16. Transportation can be arranged to pick up your child from home if within the general area of the Broadview Gospel Hall.

Sunday Afternoon Bible Study:

The Sunday afternoon bible reading and discussion of the Holy Scriptures, usually following a chronological order from the previous week of some portion of the Bible. The discussion is not a public forum but is limited to brethren in the fellowship of the assembly. Any questions you might have would be gladly answered after the bible study.

Gospel Meeting

All are welcome to attend this most important meeting where the good news of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is preached primarily for the benefit of those who are not saved. This meeting will usually be shared by two men who read from God’s Word and seek to present it in a simple way. They will preach the great need of every soul which is to trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour and to receive forgiveness of sins. There is no to request for a show of hands or coming to the front in an attempt to make converts, thus interfering with a work that is between the individual and God. No collections will ever be taken at the gospel meeting.

Tuesday Evening Prayer / Bible Study:

The first half of the meeting is devoted to prayer at which different brethren will stand to pray and “make their requests known to God” (Philippians 4:6). The second half is for the reading and discussion of the Holy Scriptures, usually following a chronological order from the previous week of some portion of the Bible. The discussion is not a public forum but is limited to brethren in the fellowship of the assembly. Any questions you might have would be gladly answered after the bible study.
